The River Vantaa is a long river which is located in the southest part of Finland. The River Vantaa begins at Hausjärvi and ends at at the Baltic Sea. It is a 99,1 km long river. Protection of water in the River Vantaa has become more and more efficient and the quality of water has been improving during last decades. Rapids and beds have been repared and near the waterway new hiking roads have been built. There is an oppoturnity for paddling, fishing, day tripping and other activities at the River Vantaa. The improvence in quality of water and repairs in rapids have created good abilities for fishing in rapids. There are many special fishing areas at the River Vantaa so every on should find his own places. The most popular places to fish are Myllykoski and Vantaankoski. Camping around the River Vantaa is very convenient. You can go biking, hiking, skiing, and paddling. There is so much to see at the River Vantaa. For example manors, cultural landscapes and mill and dyke structures. The river runs by the childhood landscapes of Aleksis Kivi, our national writer. Thinking of paddling, the conditions in the River Vantaa are changeable according to seasons and streams. The low stream allows paddling to both directions and short periods of high water are suited specially for more experienced paddlers.
